Carpinteria boys water polo turned in a dominant performance to the tune of a 21-3 win over Nordhoff on Thursday for Senior Night, securing a Citrus Coast League title.

The seniors led the attack for the Warriors, including Asher Smith’s all-around stat line of five goals, four steals and three assists. 

Cody Schwasnick finished just behind Smith with four goals while Griffin Yamaoka, Eli Sheaffer and Kristian Main all found the back of the cage twice.

“It was a great day to celebrate our accomplished group of seniors and applaud their years of hard work and commitment,” Carpinteria coach Karl Fredrickson said. “It’s always bittersweet to see these chapters come to a close but I couldn’t be more proud of each of our boys and their impact on this program and our community.”

The Warriors are set to take on Thousand Oaks on the road on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Ventura 9, San Marcos 8

The Royals fell in a back-and-forth battle with the Cougars, 9-8.

After Ventura scored the first goal of the game, San Marcos came back and held a 3-2 lead after the first quarter and had it all knotted up at 6-6 at halftime.

The Cougars then got the best of the Royals in a second-half defensive showing, outsourcing San Marcos 3-2 en route to the win.

Both Mateo Obando and Nic Prentice had three goals for San Marcos to lead the offensive attack.

San Marcos will look to bounce back against Buena on Tuesday.

Bishop Diego 13, Villanova Prep 4

Noah Peterson went on a scoring barrage, accounting for 10 of the Cardinals’ 13 goals in a win over Villanova Prep.

Peterson’s strong effort was followed up by goals from Lucas Forry, David Acquitapace and Liam Regan.
