Cate boys lacrosse dominated their way to a 15-2 victory over Santa Barbara High on Tuesday at Peabody Stadium.
The Rams came out strong, with Johnny Foster and Quincy Thorne scoring in the opening minutes of play to take an early lead. Foster and Cody Mast each scored before the end of the quarter to go up 4-0.
Foster and Mast continued their dominance throughout the matchup, scoring six goals apiece in the victory.
Defensively, Burak Yanar was strong in the goal for Cate while the defending duo of Colby Roof and Grant Mitchell turned in a solid performance as well.
Elliott Murray Osborn scored a pair of goals for the Rams while Tres Davidson and Thorne rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.
“Two big things happened tonight. First, we learned that we could really lean on our newer players to step up in big moments,” Cate coach Troy Shapiro said. “And second, our veterans made it clear that they’re more than ready to fill the gaps left behind by our big departing class of 2023 (we graduated six starters last year).”
The Rams will host Viewpoint on Thursday at 4 p.m. in their home opener.

Girls Lacrosse
Dos Pueblos girls lacrosse picked up their first win of the season with a 17-11 rout of Agoura Hills on Tuesday.
“The team has absorbed a lot of information for attack and defense over the last couple practices that we executed wonderfully tonight, which made tonight’s game such a positive one,” Chargers coach Anais Jimenez said.
“We were able to smoothly adjust to different in-game obstacles like transitioning the ball up the field and changing how we set up on defense. I’m very proud of the turnaround the team has made from our last game last week and we look to only continue the momentum forward.”
Alice Sperling led the team with six goals and three assists while Reagan Arnold scored four goals of her own.
Eloise Shea and Hannah Martin each had multi-goal performances as well, scoring three and two goals, respectively. Shea also ended with six ground balls and six draw controls.
Rounding out the scoring were Linnea Clapinski and Chloe Gotsis with one goal apiece. Clapinski tallied six draw controls and four ground balls as well.
Dos Pueblos is now 1-1 on the young season.
