Carpinteria High softball capped off the regular season with an 8-2 win over Hueneme on Tuesday.

The Warriors got out to a fast start with four runs in the first inning and never looked back, stifling any comeback effort by the Vikings.

Sophia Santana had a big day at the plate for Carpinteria, going 2-for-4 while driving in a game-high three runs.

“Santana has been a huge addition for our team this season,” Warriors coach Matt Mora said. “She has grown so much in only her second year playing and made a lot of big plays for us in big time situations.”

Bella Velasquez led a 13-hit effort for Carpinteria with three hits of her own. Meanwhile, Alexiana Jaimes, Caden Lemere and Cecilia Lemus each registered a pair of hits in the win.

“I can’t say it enough, our younger players have been a big part of our late success,” Mora said.

Ashlee Mora earned the win in the circle after allowing two runs and striking out five in seven innings.

Carpinteria ends the regular season on a three-game winning streak to bring their record to 5-9.

Ventura 12, Santa Barbara High 1

The Dons dropped the penultimate game of the regular season to the Cougars on Tuesday.

Alina Magdaleno turned in a solid outing in relief, allowing two hits and striking out three while allowing four runs in 2 ⅓ innings of work. She also had one of the team’s two hits.

“She is always willing to do whatever I ask her to do for the team,” Santa Barbara High coach Julie Kittle said of Magdaleno.

The other hit came off the bat of Amanda Holguin, who drove home Laila Hernandez for the team’s lone run.

The Dons will host Ventura on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. for Senior Day.

Santa Clara 14, Bishop Diego 2

The Cardinals dropped their Tri-Valley League matchup with Santa Clara on Tuesday.

Both of Bishop Diego’s runs came in the top of the first thanks to RBI singles by Tessa Johansen and Chelsea Hayes.

“We started the game strong with two runs on fundamental softball and then the game got away from us,” Cardinals coach MeLinda Matsumoto said.

Santa Clara poured on five runs in the bottom of the first and continued to cruise from there for the victory.

Tara Gregson led Bishop Diego with two hits on the day.

The Cardinals will host their Senior Day game against Coastal Christian on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
