Dos Pueblos softball slugged their way to a 10-0 Channel League win over Buena on Monday.
Georgia Wilson turned in a great all-around performance for the Chargers, tossing a shutout while also going 3-for-4 with three RBI at the plate.
“Georgia has had a great season, but today might have been her sharpest performance all season,” Chargers coach Mike Gerken said. “She didn’t miss many pitches, located the change up and got soft contact all day.”
The Dos Pueblos offense was rolling all throughout the game, scoring two runs in the second and fourth innings while also scoring three runs in the third and fifth innings to clinch the mercy-rule win.
Anastasia Brunner reached base four times from the leadoff spot and Anna Gray drove in a run for the Chargers.
“Anna Gray and Kylie Pearce continue to contribute at the plate,” Gerken said. “They’ve had a great couple of weeks for us.”
Dos Pueblos is now 13-9 overall and 10-3 in league play.
Carpinteria 13, Channel Islands 3
The Warriors cruised to a 13-3 Senior Day victory over Channel Islands on Monday.
The seven seniors recognized for Carpinteria were Ashlee Mora, Paola Martinez, Jessemar Marquez, Alexiana Jaimes, Amarisse Camargo, Bella Velasquez and Melisa Cruz.
As a team, the Warrior offense exploded for a season-high 17 hits, blowing the game open with four runs in the second and seven more runs in the third inning.
Camargo had a Senior Day to remember with a pair of hits and four RBI. Jaimes, Bamma Cardenas and Velasquez each drove in a run while Jaimes, Velasquez and Cecilia Lemus tallied three hits apiece.
Mora earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs on three hits over five innings of work.
“We are playing the best ball of the season these last few games,” Carpinteria coach Matt Mora said. “Our seniors have been on fire and our younger players have also answered the call and we are playing our best games of the season.”
The Warriors will take on Hueneme in the final game of the regular season on Tuesday.
