Tessa Johansen supplied Bishop Diego softball with their second walk-off win in as many games on Friday, taking down Castaic by a score of 4-3.
With the game tied at 3-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Tara Gregson kicked off the inning with a leadoff walk.
After Anna Fitipaldi reached on a bunt single, Johansen came through with the game-winning base hit.
Johansen and Sarah Fellers each homered earlier in the game to provide the other three runs for the Cardinals.
Lauren Weeks picked up the win on the mound for Bishop Diego, allowing one earned run and striking out nine over seven innings of work.
The Cardinals will take on Valley Christian on the road on Tuesday.
San Marcos 15, Pacifica 3
The Royals routed the Tritons in a five-inning Channel League matchup on Friday.
Kate Guerra threw a complete game for San Marcos, striking out seven batters across five innings.
Emma Foster paced the offense from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Hastings and Tiana Monaghan each blasted homers in the win. Hastings drove in a total of five runs to lead the team.
Guerra also tallied two RBI to help herself out on the offensive side of the ball.
The Royals (10-4, 5-3 Channel League) will take the next week off for spring break.
Dos Pueblos 3, Rio Mesa 1
The Chargers earned a huge Channel League victory over the Spartans on the road.
All three of Dos Pueblos’ runs came in the sixth inning, and it was all started by a Zella Cassidy walk.
Kacey Hurley then drove Cassidy home on an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead. Following another walk, Georgia Wilson drove home Hurley on a single and Kylie Pearce, pinch-running for Kaitlyn Ashby, scored on a delayed steal.
“Kacey has been dynamic at the plate, she was the spark all game long,” Dos Pueblos coach Mike Gerken said. “The key to victory may have been the delayed steal. Kylie Pearce’s heads-up base running put us in the perfect position to try to get another run.
“She and Aubrey Carreno executed the play perfectly to give us a little cushion. That’s two smart players making a very smart play to help us out. I’m proud of them both.”
Meanwhile, Wilson turned in yet another strong outing in the circle for the Chargers, tossing seven strong innings to earn the win.
Rio Mesa’s lone run came in the bottom of the seventh, but Wilson and Dos Pueblos were able to keep it at one by stranding a runner in scoring position.
“I can’t say enough about the way Georgia competed in the circle today,” Gerken said. “This was her last chance to face Rio Mesa and the loss on Wednesday really motivated her.
“We’ve been close over the years, but to finally get them felt good for the whole team.”
With the win, the Chargers are now 8-5 overall and 6-2 in league play.
