San Marcos’ boys and girls swim teams earned a dominant sweep of Buena on Tuesday in Ventura.
The Royals’ girls team came away with a 130-39 victory, while the boys team won by a score of 106-64. Both teams are undefeated in dual meets this season.
“I am proud of how we competed today,” San Marcos head coach Chuckie Roth said. “It was cold and windy, but there were no complaints. The kids raced very hard and showed signs of improvement. We had some great races that provided experience for our athletes.”
Taylor Steelman, Sierra Tallman and Sophia Hall led the way for the girls as double individual winners.
Steelman came out on top in the 200 freestyle (1:51.33) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.43), Tallman won the 200 IM (2:07.62) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.49) and Hall placed first in the 50 freestyle (25.04) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.80).
Bethany King rounded out the individual winners with a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle at 5:45.45.
The San Marcos girls also won the 4×100 freestyle, 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay races.
On the boys side, Nolan Clark and Noah Warkentin each took home a pair of individual first-place finishes.
Clark won both the 200 IM (2:07.32) and the 100 butterfly (55.94), while Warkentin finished first in the 500 freestyle (5:00.64) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.41).
Meanwhile, Will Stuart came in first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.35 and Duncan Hunt captured first in the 100 backstroke at 1:03.42.
The San Marcos boys rounded out the scoring by winning the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and medley relay races.
The Royals will take on crosstown rival Dos Pueblos on Thursday at Elings Aquatic Center.
Dos Pueblos vs. Oxnard
The Chargers also maintained their perfect dual meet records with victories over the Yellow Jackets.
The Dos Pueblos boys came away with a 119-45 win while the girls team earned a 110-59 victory.
The Chargers picked up a podium sweep in the boys 200 freestyle relay thanks to a strong comeback by Andrew Davies-Nunez.
Meanwhile, Tarkan Ezal picked up a dramatic first-place finish in the 200 IM.
As for the girls, Wynona Shea won the 100 breaststroke while Addison Parrish, Riley Moore and Talia Marshall swept the 50 freestyle.
Dos Pueblos will host San Marcos on Thursday.
