Santa Barbara High girls beach volleyball capped off Channel League play with a sweep of Rio Mesa on the road on Wednesday.
The Dons end the season in fourth place as a team with a league record of 7-5.
“It was a consistent team effort for us going into CIF playoffs next week,” Santa Barbara coach Kristin Hempy said.
The dominance started at the top, where Santa Barbara’s Gwen Chenoweth and Keenan Engebretson cruised to a two-set win, 21-12, 21-9.
At the twos, the Dons’ duo of Stella Borgioli and Lucy Fisher came away with the victory at 21-8, 21-6.
The No. 3 pairing of Lola Heckman and Lexi Horton also emerged victorious in two sets, 21-14, 21-15.
Paylin Marcillac and Blake Saunders kept the winning streak going for Santa Barbara High in the No. 4 matchup with set scores of 21-11, 21-15.
Finishing off the victories for the Dons were Ona Caballero and Lauren McFadden, who won 21-15, 21-17.
Boys Volleyball
Providence picked up a home sweep of Oak Grove on Wednesday, 25-15, 25-21, 25-22.
The victory brings the Patriots even with Oak Grove atop the Condor League standings, setting up a league championship matchup next Thursday.
Jordan LaBrie led the team with 14 kills while both Teleios Zermeno and Hunter LaBrie contributed nine kills to celebrate their senior night.
“Some great play on both sides of the net today,” Providence coach Dan Terry said. “Looking ahead to CIF, I definitely saw some things we could work on, but I’m really optimistic that we can polish things up enough to make a real good showing this year.”
