Family law attorneys Paul Roberts and Karen Peabody have joined the law firm of Price, Postel & Parma (PP&P).
The firm’s new family law practice includes handling complex high asset martital dissolution proceedings, and focuses on guiding clients during major life events such as prenuptial agreements, post-judgment disputes, and the establishment and modification of spousal and child support and custody orders.
The expansion into family law alongside the firm’s estate planning and tax practices will allow PP&P to provide comprehensive representation no matter what developments arise in the lives of its clients.
In addition to the highly technical issues that can arise, family law matters are often complicated further because of the potential for highly contentious proceedings.
“Of critical importance is the understanding of the magnitude of the responsibility of a lawyer in family law,” Roberts said. “It is family law, and the family shall be redefined as a result of this process. As a professional, I view that as an opportunity to preserve, protect but also redefine.
“What I do in my work can affect generations to follow. That truism is to be remembered every day,” he said. “My approach is based on learning about my clients’ needs, providing an idea of what to expect from the outset of a family law matter, keeping clients informed throughout the process, and achieving their goals as efficiently as possible.”
Roberts has been in practice in Santa Barbara since 1977 and has acted as CEO of law firms in Santa Barbara before joining Price, Postel & Parma.
He has an established practice at PP&P that includes handling complex, high asset marital dissolution proceedings which consist of litigating all issues including real estate, domestic and foreign, business issues, often involving the officers of publicly traded companies and spousal and child support and custody.
Roberts is the founding member and former board president of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra. He also served on the board for the Santa Barbara Lawyer Referral Service, Santa Barbara Bar Association and other nonprofit organizations in the Santa Barbara area.
Peabody is a litigator and appellate attorney who has been practicing in Santa Barbara since 1997. She provides counsel and representation to clients during all phases of family law proceedings.
Peabody is dedicated to providing personalized legal services to clients in a cost-effective manner and to working creatively and efficiently to resolve disputes.
Before joining PP&P, Peabody had a solo practice, Peabody Boris Law, emphasizing probate and trust litigation before transitioning to family law. From 1997 through 2013, she was with the former law firm of Nye, Peabody, Stirling, Hale & Miller, LLP.
Peabody is a member of the Santa Barbara Women Lawyers, Barristers Club and the William L. Gordon Inn of Court.
