Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will leave Montecito for the foreseeable future and return to the United Kingdom this fall, per the Associated Press.
They purchased a $16 million, 14,500-square-foot, nine-bedroom home in Montecito in 2020.
They plan to retain ownership of their Montecito home, per the AP. Photos of the home have appeared periodically in Instagram posts made to Meghan’s account, @meghan.
Their son, 7-year-old Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was born in London.
Their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, 5, was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
A video of the couple dancing at the Santa Barbara-based hospital while waiting for the birth of their daughter went viral after Megan posted it years later in honor of their daughter’s birthday.

The couple has been active in philanthropic circles while living in the county, raising money for first responders through One805LIVE!, an annual fundraiser that supports responders’ mental health.
Harry and Meghan originally moved to California shortly after they gave up their royal duties six years ago, joining a long list of celebrities — including Oprah — who prefer the privacy Montecito offers to the famous.
The couple’s move was reportedly over tensions between the couple and the rest of the royal family, as detailed in Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”
Per AP, they do not plan to resume their royal duties at this time.
Their children are already enrolled in a British school for the next school year, according to a source who spoke to the AP.
The AP indicated that the pair will live in a non-royal home outside of London.
