Dan Terry, Athletic Director at Providence School, has been recognized with the prestigious 20th Dr. Jim Staunton Champions for Character Award by the CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS).

The award was presented during the annual Champions for Character Awards Ceremony this past Monday, celebrating individuals who exemplify integrity, sportsmanship, and leadership in high school athletics.
The Champions for Character Award honors those who create environments where character development is valued as highly as athletic achievement.
This accolade recognizes educators, administrators, and coaches whose contributions go beyond the scoreboard, positively impacting both school and community.
Under Coach Dan Terry’s leadership, Providence School’s athletic programs embody values of respect, responsibility, and ethical conduct.
Coach Terry has been instrumental in shaping student-athletes into leaders both on and off the field.
“Dan has expanded athletics at Providence and increased student participation in CIF programs,” says Mr. Rodney Meadth, Operations Director and Engineering Academy Director. “His empathetic leadership fosters a culture of fairness, respect, and accountability.”
“Dan also established a multi-school agreement with local private schools and homeschool groups,” adds Mr. Meadth, “giving more students the opportunity to compete while strengthening his own teams.”
“At a small, private Christian school, it’s easy to put character first,” says Coach Terry. “It’s built into our school’s mission. We want to prepare our students for lives of purpose. As Athletic Director, I look for coaches who share that value.
“Our coaches become mentors and role models to our student-athletes, beyond just being coaches. I want to make sure our athletes have mentors they can truly look up to.”
Congratulations to Coach Dan Terry on receiving this distinguished honor and for his ongoing commitment to developing character, leadership, and excellence in Providence student-athletes.
The Champions for Character Awards celebrate those who make a lasting impact on students and the wider school community, proving that athletics can be a powerful platform for shaping leaders of character.
