Providence boys volleyball completed the regular season with a four-set win over Cate on Thursday in Carpinteria, 25-14, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18.

With the result, the Patriots took the season series over the Rams with their second win in three matchups.

“We are so grateful for Cate hosting us today, we’ve really developed a healthy rivalry with them this year and it was fun seeing some of the guys exchanging numbers after the match,” Providence head coach Dan Terry said. “Both teams were short handed and we were down to only seven guys today so we had to make some adjustments to our line up and serve receive.

“I was really impressed with how my guys were able to take in the 15 minute crash course right before the match.”

Cor Patterson ended his regular season on a high note with a season-high 20 kills to go along with 10 digs and three aces. Ben Terry also had a season-high 50 assists, while also putting up 10 digs and three aces.

Meanwhile, Moses Schlobohm and Isaac Hoffman had strong offensive performances as well with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

“I’m really proud of Sam Henin and Isaiah Meadth for stepping up and filling in for some of our missing players,” Terry said. “Chris Van Wyk did a great job in his first full match as an opposite and was a huge asset as we moved him into the serve receiving passing core, when we usually hide the opposites instead.”

Providence will await a potential at-large bid into the CIF-SS playoffs, which will be announced Saturday.
