Providence girls tennis was defeated by Foothill Tech on Tuesday by a score of 11-7.

It was a tight match throughout, with both teams exchanging points back and forth.

In singles play, Abby Gobbell, Amber Petraitis Regan and Sarah Monroy all picked up points in their respective matchups.

Meanwhile, the sister duo of Melia and Annika Haugen captured a win in doubles play to contribute to the team score

Thacher 16, Bishop Diego 2

The Cardinals struggled to string together points in a 16-2 loss to Thacher.

The two wins for Bishop Diego came from No. 1 singles player Haley Hubbs, winning two sets by scores of 6-2, 6-0.

Hubbs is now 17-2 in league play, with both of her losses coming to Thacher’s No. 1 player.

Bishop Diego struggled in doubles play, as they were shutout 9-0 across the three pairings.

“We didn’t play poorly, in fact, Thacher forced us to raise our level of play and I thought we took on the challenge very well,” Cardinals coach Pete Kirkwood said.

Following the loss, Bishop Diego (4-3) will host St. Bonaventure (5-2) on Thursday for Senior Day.
