After dropping the third set and falling behind by seven points in the fourth, the Cardinals were in need of a momentum swing.

Eliana Urzue led Bishop Diego with 26 kills and four aces while Nicole Schuetz impressed in her Cardinal debut with 10 kills and a trio of aces.

The Cardinals will host Villanova Prep on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Brick House.

Providence 3, Midland 0

Providence came away with a three-set sweep of Midland on the road on Saturday, 25-13, 25-14, 25-11.

The Patriots were led by senior Ava Wagner’s nine kills and senior Daniella Terry’s five aces. On the serve receive, Rachel Pinkevich tallied a 2.5 passer rating to help the flow of the offense.

This is the best I’ve seen the team play, I’m very impressed and proud of them,” Providence coach Taylor Slover said. “They served and passed so well. We were able to work on more things because our backbone was solid. They communicated well, it was very fun to watch.”

Through the team’s first two league matchups, the Patriots are 2-0 on the young season.
