Providence School hosted the second annual West Beach Invitational Beach Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at West Beach.
Santa Barbara High, San Marcos and Santa Ynez joined Providence to form 24 teams made up of local boys beach volleyball players.
“After a whole season of head-to-head matches, I wanted to make sure that a lot of these high school beach players were able to finish off the beach season with an opportunity to play in a CBVC-style tournament with pool play and a single elimination playoff bracket,” Providence athletic director Dan Terry said.
“This may be the first opportunity for some of the younger players to experience this type of tournament. It was a perfect day for beach (volleyball) and the turnout was great.”

Santa Ynez’s Anders Dietenhofer and Nate Biron captured first place in the Gold Division after pulling out a 26-24 overtime battle with Santa Barbara’s Huxley McGetrick and Jackson McDermott.
In the Silver Division, Santa Barbara’s Ryder Craig and Felix Adrian-Gianetto came out on top with a championship match win over Providence’s Micah Song and Chris VanWyk.
Providence’s Gavin Rutland paired up with Santa Ynez’s Luke Cruz to earn a first-place finish in the Bronze Division, winning the title match against San Marcos’ Diego Vasquez and Parker.
