San Marcos freshman Jayla Provance shot a personal-best 36 to take medalist honors, but Dos Pueblos prevailed as a team Wednesday at Glen Annie to take a 232-246 Channel League win.
Both teams posted several personal or season bests. Chelsi Ramirez was the low scorer for the Chargers with a season-best 41, and Camille Robinson and Victoria Chen both shot 43, a season best for Chen and all-time best for Robinson.
Marisa Ortiz added personal best 50 for the Chargers.
“It was an outstanding team win for the Chargers,” Charger coach Dan Choi said. “I am so happy for the girls who continue to work very hard.”
For San Marcos, “Jayla has medaled in every match she has played in,” Royals coach Sarah Ashton said.
In addition, three other Royals freshmen shot personal bests.
“Riley O’Brien posted a 51 with no 3- putts, which is one of the goals she has been working toward. It has been fun to watch these girls continue to get better every week, and this week was no exception.
“Both teams showed a lot of improvement today and there were some impressive golf shots. DP is a strong team and tough to beat on their home course,” Ashton added.
Dos Pueblos is 5-4 both overall and in Channel League play. San Marcos is 5-5 overall and 5-4 in league.
