After predictions of rain earlier in the week, Santa Barbara residents woke up Thursday morning to light showers and thunderstorms.

The chance of rain lasted through noon and the rest of the day was expected to be partly sunny with a high of 74 degrees in Santa Barbara, according to the National Weather Services.

Southeast winds are expected to reach 5 to 10 miles per hour and will go southwest in the afternoon.

Historically, Santa Barbara sees almost no rain in the month of August. In the last ten years, the most rain Santa Barbara has had in August was .03 inches in 2014.

In Santa Maria the rain was also expected to clear up midday and make way for a partly sunny day with highs of 68 degrees. Northwest winds are expected to reach five to 15 miles per hour. 

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, Carpinteria has seen .5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. In comparison, Goleta saw .09 inches, and Santa Barbara got .3 inches of rain, according to the Santa Barbara County rainfall and reservoir summary

Santa Barbara County can expect patchy fog Thursday evening. Friday will be cloudy with highs in the 70s and sunny days will return Saturday, according to the National Weather Services.
