Rain is headed to Santa Barbara County after a warmer-than-usual weekend with Christmas Day highs in the mid-70s.
The South Coast is forecast to get rain Monday night and Tuesday, with a continued chance of rain every day into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures will dip back into the 60s for the rest of the week and nighttime lows in the 40s and 50s.
As of Sunday, the weather service said, the Central Coast could get 1-3 inches of rainfall from this storm, with up to 6 inches expected in the Santa Lucia Mountains of San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties.
There’s a 90% chance of rain Tuesday into Tuesday night, a 30% chance of rain Wednesday, and a continued chance of rain every day the rest of the week, the weather service said Sunday.
Earlier this month, a storm soaked Santa Barbara County, offering some hope for a wet winter and some relief from years of California’s chronic drought.
San Marcos Pass received almost 7 inches of rain, making it the county’s wettest spot during that storm.
As we approach the end of the year, Lake Cachuma, the county’s largest reservoir, is at 31.4% full.
According to historical monthly rainfall trends, February is the county’s typically wettest month, followed closely behind by January, then March, then December.
