Ramona Valencia was born Oct. 31, 1935, and passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
She was a loving, caring mother, daughter, Tia, friend but most importantly a Nana to her five grandchildren and her four great-grandchildren.
Ramona was born at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital and lived in Santa Barbara her entire life. Ramona started working at a young age, at numerous places, but her passion and what she enjoyed most was being a teacher’s aide at every elementary school her grandchildren attended.
She was a loving and caring woman and always made sure everyone who left her home was fed and happy. Nana’s house was always so comforting. She liked to have a good time. At every party, every barbecue, any special events, she was always ready to make her potato salad and fresh, warm, homemade flour tortillas. She loved music, dancing and drinking her wine, but more than anything, her love for her children, family and grandchildren was truly unconditional.
She was the best Nana. The memories that we all have created with her will forever be in our hearts. She was the matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed.
Ramona Valencia was survived by her three children, Michael Valencia, Andy Valencia and Suzanne Valencia; her five grandchildren, Angela, Brianna, Nissa, Mia and Ixzel; and her four great-grandchildren, Mireya, Brian, Abigail and Thomas.
We welcome all her family and friends to join us to celebrate her life.
The Rosary and viewing will take place on Monday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m., and the funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 221 N. Nopal St. in Santa Barbara. The graveside service will follow immediately after the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
