The American Red Cross, working together with emergency managers and community partners in Santa Barbara County, has closed the emergency shelter at the Solvang Veterans Memorial effective immediately.
Since Sunday, Red Cross volunteers have staffed a shelter 24/7 in case residents affected by Lake Fire evacuation orders and warnings needed a safe place to stay.
As the Lake Fire grows, and extreme heat and fire conditions persist throughout the area, the Red Cross said it will continue to monitor community sheltering needs across the area and stands ready to reopen shelters if needed.
