Authorities have released the name of the man who drowned over the weekend at the Red Rock area on the Upper Santa Ynez River in Los Padres National Forest.
The victim was Roberto Perez Juarez, 19, of Oxnard, according to Lt. Jarrett Morris of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 1:45 p.m. Sunday to the popular recreation area, and learned that Juarez had disappeared while swimming.
He reportedly had been in the water for more than an hour by the time his body was recovered from a deep pool.
“Detectives from the Coroner’s Bureau conducted an investigation, and determined that his cause of death was drowning and the manner was accidental,’ Morris told Noozhawk.
