Caregivers are invited to a evening in Lompoc to learn more about community resources, relevant services, and support for themselves and their care recipients, 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6 at Dick DeWees Community and Senior Center, 1120 W. Ocean Ave.

Reservations are now being taken for the free event, which will include a light meal of soup, salad and dessert, raffles and socialization time. Doors open at 5 p.m. To make a reservation, call 805-737-5762 or email woolseyh@lompocvmc.com.

Sponsored by Superior Home Health, Hospice and Senior Services, the Caregiver Information Session is designed to equip caregivers with the knowledge and tools needed to continue providing care to a loved one.

During the evening, experts in caregiving for the elderly and dementia will share information and provide resources for attendees. There will be a short wellness activity as well.

On-site respite care will be available. Transportation courtesy of Community Partners in Caring will be offered only if arranged in advance by calling 805-925-8000.

The event is part of the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation Community Education Lecture Series, in conjunction with the city of Lompoc and Lompoc Parks and Recreation Division. Additional partners include LVCHO’s Healthy Lompoc Coalition, Coast Caregiver Resource Center, Caring Together Santa Barbara County, Compass Plus, Community Partners in Caring, Family Service Agency, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
