Rhonda Lee Grant, recent resident of Abingdon Virginia, but citizen of the world, left us to be with her Lord on June 1, 2024.
Rhonda was born in Kenton, Ohio, in August 1950. She graduated from River Valley High School in 1968. Over the years, she lived in California, Hawaii, and most recently Virginia.
She lived in Santa Barbara for 20 years before moving to Virginia in 2017.
Rhonda was devoutly religious and was aware that she was nearing the end of her earthly life. She was prepared in her heart and in her mind to transition to whatever follows life on Earth.
Rhonda was vibrant and full of giving throughout her adult life. She personified a young woman of the ’60s, and transitioned seamlessly into an accomplished executive secretary by the time she was 30.
She never lost the flair for making friends and fitting in with the crowd. She filled many roles, but was most often the “one to go ,” no matter her employment.
Always an aspiring artist, writer, and public speaker, Rhonda enrolled in a variety of classes at various community colleges.
She pursued her love of painting until her final hospital stay, and left several partially completed canvasses.
Although she was never married nor had children of her own, she loved children and remained in touch with her many nieces and nephews. Rhonda made friends easily and once made, remained a friend for life.
Rhonda is survived by many nieces and nephews; her four brothers Rick (California), Charlie (Washington), Chris (Dover, Ohio) and John Layman (Oregon); and her beloved dog Jake.
