Richard “Dick” Rosenkrans, 82, passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2025, in San Diego, California. Born on Feb. 14, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Richard lived a life defined by love, laughter, service, and devotion to his family.
Dick and his wife Peg made Santa Barbara their beloved home — first in the mid-1970s, and then continuously from 1978-2024. They loved the life and community they built there, raising their family and forming lasting friendships.
Some of their most treasured memories were made on family trips to Hawaii and Cape Cod, and at the beach in Santa Barbara.
Dick worked for Raytheon for 36 years before retiring at age 60. In his retirement, he continued to give back through volunteer work with the Cottage Hospital Life Alert Program, and as a tax preparer for AARP.
He was known for his generosity, quiet strength, and willingness to help others.
Dick was a man who found joy in simple pleasures: biking through the neighborhood, swimming in his pool, and working on home improvement projects.
Above all, he loved being with his family. He never missed a grandchild’s sporting event and often said his greatest achievement was his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Peg; his children Richard Rosenkrans, Kimberly Nabarro, and Noelle Rosenkrans; his cherished grandchildren Makani, Makoa, Lokelani, Madison and Blake. He also leaves behind his siblings Charlotte, Gerry, Ginny and Bill.
Dick’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and remembered always.
Memorial services will be reserved until arrangements can be made for a gathering in Santa Barbara to celebrate his life.
