The Latinos Unidos Club, on Oct. 30, united Righetti High School as a community and shared the Latin American tradition of Day of the Dead.

The holiday remembers and honors deceased loved ones, but also celebrates life and the Latino culture. The event featured a performance by the Ballet Folklórico and Marimba Band.

Students and staff participated in the rally and face painting. Students created a fun and festive space where faculty and the student body came together.

“The Dia de Los Muertos Rally is an opportunity for the club to reach out but also to spread diversity through culture on campus,” said Lisbeth Angeles, Latinos Unidos president.

“This event makes me feel proud of all those who partake in the planning process as it’s one of our major events and we are able to keep the tradition of our culture alive but also spread it to students and staff who were not aware of it,” she said.

“For LU this means we can continue to bring our community together and celebrate our roots,” said Giselle Castellanos, LU public relations.

“We want to continue bringing representation to our campus as well as new insights to those who have not yet experienced celebrating the Dia de los Muertos rally,” said Gnesis Lopez, LU Club co-advisor. “The Latinos Unidos club will continue to promote this cultural event to bring together our students as it has in the past.”
