Repairs are underway to fix traction issues on some roads in Montecito, according to the Montecito Fire Department.
A fog seal previously applied to some of the roads caused the surfaces to become particularly slick when wet, Fire Chief Brian Fallon told Noozhawk this week.
Those roads include: San Ysidro Road near Montecito Union School, Hot Springs Road near Casa Dorinda, and North Jameson Road between San Ysidro and Olive Mill roads.
The department has worked with the county for the past six months or so to correct the issue, Fallon said.
Crews applied pretreatment for the asphalt on Monday, and work overall to fix the issue is expected to wrap up by the end of next week.
Signs are in place to warn drivers of the work and the issue, Fallon said.
“Drive carefully and be aware of your surroundings,” Fallon said. “Take that area as slow as possible.”
