
Robert Froewiss, 70, passed away on Feb. 20, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on Aug. 25, 1954, in Bay Shore, New York, the son of Robert and Audrey Froewiss.
Robert was a proud graduate of Bay Shore High School and Vassar College.
Robert dedicated his life to helping individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. He began his career in New York working in therapeutic care and education, later moving to Santa Barbara, where he served for many years as an on-duty executive at Devereux Foundation.
He went on to provide private care, and concluded his career as a special education teacher at Hope School.
His was a life of generosity and service to those in need.
Robert brought light and laughter to those around him. He was known for his quick wit, generous heart, and ability to make anyone smile.
A passionate golfer and coach, he found joy in mentoring others both on and off the course. He was also a loyal — often frustrated — lifelong New York Giants fan, which he wore as both a badge of honor and a running punchline.
Robert was predeceased by his wife Frances Froewiss (Tuomey), a dedicated nurse; his parents Robert and Audrey; and his brother Geoffrey Froewiss.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Evan Froewiss; sister Lynne Harmon (Junior); niece Theo Tuomey; nephews Trey and Ryan Harmon; and many extended family members and friends.
