Rosalva Cardona, age 53, passed away at her home the morning of Aug. 21, 2019. She was accompanied by her loving husband and two caring children by her side. She was a strong woman, wife, mother and friend who never backed down and always moved forward.
Sadly, her battle with cancer was too much for her to fight off and she is now peacefully resting in heaven.
Rosalva was born in Michoacán, Mexico, May 31, 1966, and moved to Carpinteria as a young teenager with her mother Esperanza and two older brothers Jose and Jaime. She started working at Carpinteria Western in 1984 and continued to work as store manager for The Wharf in Ventura for 35 years.
She graduated from Carpinteria High School in 1985. In 1987, she married Jesus Cardona Vega. Together they had two children Gabriela Cardona and Jesus Alejandro Cardona.
Her love toward her family was always evident with her home-cooked dinners and enjoying them as a family. The only thing that came close to that love was her work. She was very dedicated to her responsibilities at The Wharf.
Her motherly love and compassion were a couple of her key attributes to making her a great, loving person. She was always very approachable and offered trusting advice.
In her passing she leaves behind her loving husband Jesus Cardona, her daughter Gabriela Cardona (Diego Campos), her son Alex, her stepfather and mother Cipriano and Esperanza Benavidez, brothers Jose (Irma) Avalos and Jaime Avalos; along with many nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, and friends.
Rosalva, also known as Rosa, will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, loving heart, and positive outlook on life. May her presence always be felt and love never forgotten.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at St. Joseph’s Church, 1532 Linden Ave., Carpinteria. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday Aug. 29, also to at St. Joseph’s. Burial will follow at Carpinteria Cemetery, 1501 Cravens Lane, Carpinteria.
