The city of Carpinteria has announced the appointment of Ryan Kintz as the new assistant city manager, effective April 29.
Kintz comes to Carpinteria after serving as the assistant to the city manager for Goleta over the past four years. Before that, he had seven years of experience with the city of Ventura in various roles including environmental specialist, management analyst, and interim code enforcement manager.
Kintz brings experience in municipal administration, with a successful track record in community development and economic sustainability.
During his time with the city of Goleta, his leadership in developing their recent sales tax measure has generated a significant amount of revenue for city services. He also played a key role in creating a community driven 5-Year Strategic Plan to guide Goleta’s future policy decisions.
“Ryan’s hire is an exemplary demonstration of the region’s commitment to fostering the growth of our community’s future leaders,” said Goleta City Manager Robert Nisbet.
“As a former city of Carpinteria employee myself, I am particularly proud to see the hire of talented individuals like Ryan to contribute to the advancement of Carpinteria,” Nisbet said.
“Central Coast cities serve as breeding grounds for cultivating talent, and Ryan’s appointment underscores our shared dedication to nurturing and supporting that talent and keeping that talent in the region,” he said.
“Although it is hard to lose him here in Goleta, I am happy for him and I am confident that Ryan will have a positive impact in Carpinteria,” Nisbet said.
Kintz holds a master’s degree from UCSB’s Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, along with two bachelor’s degrees from UCSB in environmental studies and physical geography.
“Ryan’s prior municipal experience and unique skill set align strongly with the goals and priorities of our City Council,” said Carpinteria City Manager Michael Ramirez. “We’re excited to add Ryan’s fresh perspective and positive energy to our team.
“His selection reinforces our city’s commitment to excellence in governance and service delivery.”
