It’s been a long run for Ryann Neushul in her collegiate water polo career, and it ended the same way it started at Stanford — with a national championship.

No. 1 Stanford won its 10th NCAA Women’s Water Polo national championship on Sunday, beating No. 3 USC, 11-7, at Indiana University. The title was a momentous one for Ryann as she became Stanford’s only four-time national champion. Her older sisters Kiley and Jamie won three titles during their time playing for the Cardinal.

Ryann’s fourth title marked the end of the Neushul Era at Stanford. Her run lasted seven years.  The 2018 Dos Pueblos alum played on a NCAA championship team in her freshman season in 2019 and won back-to-back titles in 2022-23. She didn’t compete for the Cardinal in 2020-21 as she trained with the U.S. National Team before the delayed Tokyo Olympics. She took the 2024 collegiate season off to train and compete for Team USA at the Paris Olympics.

Ryann scored a goal in the win over USC, giving her 228 for her career — the fifth most in program history. She was to the all-tournament first team.

Stanford’s 2025 championship team also included San Marcos alums Reagan McEachen and Makenna Stretz and former Dos Pueblos student athlete Jewel Roemer, who played on the 2024 Olympic Team with Neushul.

USC’s lineup included San Marcos alums Ava Stryker and Madison Haaland-Ford. Stryker scored a goal in the first period.
