Santa Barbara County is blessed with a diversity of vital nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the health, well-being, growth, civic leadership and compassion of our community.
Charitable giving and philanthropy are part of our identity, which is why Noozhawk is proud to support the nonprofit community through sponsoring local community organizations and events.
To showcase our support as a sponsor of the event, Noozhawk spoke with Alice Matiosian, who is in charge of Festival Marketing for the Santa Barbara Greek Festival to learn more about their upcoming event.
Question: What is the name and date of your event?
Answer: Santa Barbara Greek Festival June 28 & 29.
Q: What is the mission, goal, and/or theme of this occasion?
A: Our mission at the Santa Barbara Greek Festival is to celebrate and share the rich culture, traditions, and flavors of Greece with our community. We aim to bring people together by way of food and dance! By fostering a welcoming environment where everyone can experience the warmth and hospitality of Greek culture, we hope to create lasting memories and strengthen the bonds that make our community unique.
Q: Have you held this event before?
A: This will be the Santa Barbara Greek Festival’s 51st year!
Q: Tell us some more details about your celebration?
A: With Chase Palm Park Field as our new home, we hope to attract locals as well as those who are visiting the area to celebrate with us. We are excited to offer traditional Greek pastries, handmade by patrons of Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church as well as delicious savory dishes and live entertainment from local musicians and folk dancers. The Greek Festival has always been a family affair so we’re also pleased to offer several family friendly activities!
Q: How do people get involved with your event? (volunteer, attend, etc.) – If your event includes ticket sales, please note the price and include a link to purchase tickets.
A: If you would like to volunteer, please reach out to festival@saintbarbara.net for more information.
We will be open Friday, June 28th 2p.m.-9p.m. and Saturday, June 29th 11a.m.-9p.m.
Presale tickets are available online through May 31st for $3 and will be $5 thereafter as well as at the door. Kids 12& under as well as anyone who elects to wear a toga will be admitted for FREE. You are welcome to reserve free toga tickets in advance online.
Tickets can be found at: tinyurl.com/SBGFTIX
Q: Is this a fundraising affair? If so, how will the funds raised help your organization?
A: All proceeds will directly benefit Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. As a non profit, the church depends on donations and fundraising events like this to stay afloat. Your attendance will not only help the church, but it will also help keep the festival going in years to come.
If you’re interested in donating directly to the church, please visit https://saintbarbara.net/
Q: Who is sponsoring your event, and why is their support important?
A: A big thank you to Noozhawk for sponsoring our event! Their support means that we can get the word out far and wide to ensure a successful and joy filled weekend. Opa!
Q: Do you work with an Event Planner? If not, who are the key people who make it all happen?
A: Alex Pardy (Mendoza) grew up going to the church and happens to be a luxury event producer in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. We’re very lucky to have her as the back bone of the festival this year! She’s helped breathe new life into the event and we can’t wait to share it with the Santa Barbara community!
Q: Does your organization have any other upcoming events this year?
A: The church has periodic smaller fundraising events throughout the year. The best way to stay in the loop is to subscribe to the email newsletter available at https://saintbarbara.net/ and to follow us @santabarbaragreekfestival on Facebook and Instagram.
Q: What are you planning as a post-event follow up?
A: We are planning on creating a post mortem press release as well as sharing some awesome footage on socials from our videographer.
