Sally Jacqueline Ballesteros

Sally Jacqueline Ballesteros, 81, of Santa Barbara, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 1, 2025. Sally was born in Santa Barbara on July 23, 1944, and grew up alongside her three sisters and three brothers in Carpinteria, where she attended local schools.

Sally was outgoing and a people person; she truly never met a stranger. She had a huge heart, was kind, caring and thoughtful, always choosing to see the best in everyone.

Sally was also blessed with a natural eye for décor. It wouldn’t be unheard of for her to rearrange her living room from one week to the next, especially after watching a television show or viewing a magazine and having an idea pique her interest.

Similarly, if window-shopping were a sport, she’d have won a gold medal.

More than anything, Sally valued and enjoyed time spent with family. Whether it was lunch with her sisters, a holiday with her children, or a birthday celebration for one of her grandchildren, these were cherished moments.

Treasuring precious memories made, Sally is survived by her children Walter Ballesteros Jr. (Olga Jones), Patrick Ballesteros (Isabel), James Ballesteros (Dalia), Christopher Ballesteros and Elizabeth Ballesteros. Her daughter Veronica Ballesteros predeceased her.

Sally was also known to open her home and her heart to others and did so often, becoming a mother figure to many including Renee Sanchez, Gilbert Guerrero, Yvette Castor, Bobby Castor and Diana Garnica, whom she loved and cared for like her own.

She is also survived by grandchildren,Aaron Perez, Jason Perez, Mariah Salazar, Joseph Ballesteros, Benjamin Ballesteros, Evelyn Ballesteros, Patience Ferreira, Caleb Ballesteros, Corbin Ballesteros, Joshua Ballesteros, Dominic Ballesteros, Larissa Perez, Christopher Perez, Ciana Perez, Chloe Ballesteros-Perez and Emerae Perez.

She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, as well as a large extended family including numerous nieces and nephews who have fond memories of their “Tia Mary.”

Also surviving Sally are her sisters Amelia Nevarez (William), and Carmen Estrada (Ramiro).

Preceding her in death were her parents, Francis T. Garcia and Carmen Garcia, as well as brothers Francis T. Garcia III, Edward Garcia, Victor Harold Garcia and sister Ramona Torrez.

In true “Sally Spirit,” the next time you are at the grocery store, a restaurant or just out and about, take a minute to smile, say hello to “a stranger,” and lovingly think of Sally.

A celebration of life is forthcoming and will be held at a later date; details will be shared as they become available.

The family would like to extend their sincere heartfelt gratitude to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers.
