Samuel Joseph Maxwell

Samuel Joseph Maxwell was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on Sept. 4, 1964 to Delores and Mark Maxwell. He passed away to be with our Lord on May 24, 2023. It was a few days before a planned a trip to see the Indy 500 and the day after losing his brother, that Sam suddenly passed in his sleep.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Gail Lewis, brother Mike Lewis, and brother Tony Maxwell. He is survived by his son Mark Maxwell and daughter Sara Maxwell, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and many friends.

Sam moved to Carpinteria in the 1970s. He was a 1982 graduate of Carpinteria High School. He loved growing up a block away from the beach in Carpinteria and had a lot of good times down there.

Sam enjoyed photography, even having a darkroom in his house during high school. Going to the Ventura Raceway and working on cars was another hobby. Later he even owned a boat because he enjoyed being out in the water.

Sam moved to Santa Barbara, then Goleta, and started Maxwell Hardwood Floors in 1994. It was his business for many years, and he thrived doing some amazing wood work, including some big name stars in Montecito.

After that he moved on in 2011 and worked for Thomas Towing and Smitty’s Garage as a tow truck driver while living in Lompoc. He retired and moved back to Ohio in 2021, settling in New Carlisle near his brother, sister and nieces.

Sam was married to Tracie Bradshaw for many years and they had two children, Mark and Sara. Sam loved and was supportive of his kids as they grew up, and left this world proud of each of them.

He was a good and loyal friend, fun to talk to and be around, and those of us he left behind miss him.
