San Marcos alum Allie Jones finished as runner-up in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. last weekend.
Jones, who attends graduate school at USC, scored a personal best of 4,440 points in the five events (60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800 meters). Her total score was the most ever by a Trojan at the NCAA Indoor Championships and ranks second all-time on USC’s list, just four points behind Amalie Iuel’s total of 4,444 set at the 2016 MPSF Championships.
The event winner was Jadin O’Brien of Notre Dame with 4,512 points.
Jones won the long jump with a personal record of 20-4.25 and ran a four-second PR in the 800 with a time of 2:15.09 to take fourth place and climb into second in the final point standings.
In her other events, she was fourth in the 60 hurdles (8.32 seconds), sixth in the high jump with a personal-best of 5-8.75 and sixth in the shot put at 39-6.
