San Marcos High boys water polo alumni Sam Rich and Hudson Macleod helped power Cal Poly Club Men’s Water Polo to a CWPA Club National Championship last week in Pennsylvania.
Rich and Macleod graduated from San Marcos just last spring and helped the Royals to a CIF-SS title in 2023.
Now, the freshman duo helped power the Mustangs to a championship of their own at the collegiate club level.
Cal Poly took down the University of Missouri, the University of Florida and Texas A&M on its way to the title matchup.
The Mustangs then squared off with fellow Big West school UC San Diego, where they came out on top by a score of 9-8.
