Led by the No. 1 team of Lily Blankenhorn and Riley Green, the San Marcos girls beach volleyball team won the inaugural San Marcos Beach Volleyball Duals Invitational on Saturday at the Royals on-campus courts.

The Royals went 3-0 in the four-team event, sweeping all five matches against Laguna Blanca, Santa Ynez and Santa Barbara.

Blankenhorn/Green won their three matches in straight sets. They beat Laguna Blanca 21-19, 21-13, Santa Ynez 21-17, 21-16 and Santa Barbara 21-16, 21-14.

“They continue to get better and better every time they step on the court and really showed it today,” said coach Tina Brown.
