San Marcos boys water polo went 1-1 on the final day of the South Coast Tournament on Saturday in Orange County.

The Royals kicked off Saturday’s action with an 18-7 win over Edison and rounded out the weekend with a 14-13 loss to Carlsbad.

In the victory over Edison, San Marcos built out an early lead thanks to five first-half goals by Will Stuart and never looked back.

While Stuart’s five goals led the Royals, Cole Racich and Jacob Magid each scored twice. Gavin Miller, Mateo Muslera, Ryder Wilson, Reese Stewart and Jack Kramer rounded out the scoring.

The loss to Carlsbad was a seesaw affair throughout, as neither team was able to pull away until the Lancers netted a goal in overtime for the win.

Magid was in the middle of the offensive action with four goals, while Stuart scored three more in the loss. Kai Heeps and Kramer each scored a pair of goals.

Dos Pueblos

The Chargers picked up an 11-10 win over Huntington Beach and followed that up with a 20-14 victory over Beckman on Saturday.

The matchup with Huntington Beach was a back-and-forth affair, as neither team led by more than two goals throughout the entire game.

However, the Dos Pueblos defense held Huntington Beach scoreless for the final three minutes of play to secure the win.

Channing Wigo collected four goals and two assists, while Aricin Marshall dished out five assists. Eli Carnaghe and Grant Nelson netted three goals apiece, and Koa Zertuche secured 12 saves.

In the win over Beckman, Lucas Neushul poured in a season-high nine goals and Nelson tallied seven goals and four assists. Meanwhile, Zertuche had 10 saves in the goal.

With this performance, the Chargers finished 21st out of 32 teams at the South Coast Tournament.
