San Marcos High senior Jack Cunnison, placed sixth at the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 Diving Championships on Wednesday at the Riverside Aquatics Complex.
Cunnison couldn’t believe his accomplishment after missing most of the season with an injury.
“Not being able to practice most of the season, I never expected to qualify for CIF,” he said. “I was able to focus the last several weeks and get back a solid dive list just in time.”
Cunnison was the Channel League champion.
“His pace of progression at the end of the season has been phenomenal,” said coach Michael Martz. “To reach the finals at CIF and place sixth with such limited practice time this year, is a remarkable accomplishment.”
