San Marcos wrapped up its Channel League title Thursday with a 7-1 win at Buena, and the Royals’ pitcher Caden Hodina finished the regular season undefeated.
Hodina went six innings, giving up just one hit and no earned runs to finish 5-0 against Channel League teams and 7-0 overall. Brody Sturm started the game for San Marcos, going one innings with two strikeouts and one earned run.
The Royals finish 12-2 to top the league, and 18-6 overall. They are ranked third in CIF-SS Division 3, and will host a playoff game Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
Patrick Kelly led the San Marcos offense with three hits and one RBI. Hodina, Mason Pettingill and Dayne Dreste all doubled. Cole Shoenwetter had two hits, Brendon Cekada a hit and two walks and Owen Estabrook had an RBI single and two run scored. Brad Cekada added a hit.
