San Marcos flag football extended its winning streak to five games with a 34-0 victory over Channel Islands on Tuesday at Warkentin Stadium.
The Royals (8-2) will now look ahead to a non-league matchup with crosstown rival Santa Barbara High on Thursday at Warkentin Stadium at 6 p.m.
After a scoreless opening quarter on Tuesday, the San Marcos offense came alive in the second quarter as Victoria Aldana connected with Bella Bazylewicz for a 14-yard touchdown. Piper Kittle hauled in the two-point conversion to go up 8-0.
Aldana then made her impact on the defensive end, snagging an interception and returning to 27 yards to make it a 14-0 advantage.
Later in the quarter, Kittle got in on the defensive fun and secured a 16-yard pick-six of her own to extend the lead to 20-0 heading into halftime.
The Royals then got on the board with their special teams unit in the third, as Bazylewicz returned a punt 42 yards for a touchdown and Cami Weis secured the extra point.
In the fourth quarter, Aldana scrambled in for a 6-yard touchdown and Kalina Estrada hauled in the extra point to bring the game to its final score of 34-0.
Norah Leonardi led the defensive effort in the shutout with two sacks, while Mairlyn Monroy had seven flag pulls and two tackles for loss.
