A shorthanded San Marcos girls beach volleyball team dropped a non-league matchup with Redwood High, 4-1, on Saturday.
The Royals were missing five of their 15 players, resulting in a new mix of pairings on the courts.
The lone San Marcos victory came at the No. 5 court where Rio Chesluk and Blake Hurst earned a two-set win, 21-19, 21-9.
“Hurst sustained an injury in the first match of the season. This was her first match back and it was good to see her on the court and playing quality volleyball,” Royals head coach Tim Loomer said.
“Chesluk played a very solid match, displaying good ball control and varying her attack.”
Reese Paskin and Lila Westmacott put up a strong fight on court three, falling in three sets, 10-21, 21-13, 13-15.
San Marcos is now 13-2 overall and holds an undefeated record in Channel League play.
