San Marcos girls golf dropped a tight non-league matchup with Nordhoff on Monday at Soule Park Golf Course.

The Royals, who were missing some key contributors due to finals week, shot a 261, while Nordhoff ended the day at 253.

“It was cool, overcast, and breezy, atypical weather for this time of year in Ojai, but it was a beautiful day,” San Marcos head coach Emily Carver said.

“We saw great play from the freshmen… We saw great leadership from senior Hadley Schmidt and sophomore Simrin Singh – these girls really put their team first today and helped new teammates manage the course.”

Simrin Singh was the top finisher for the Royals, carding a 45 in the loss.

She was followed by teammates Cana Spieker (48), Hadley Schmidt (50), Isha Rajbanshi (55) and Ava Miller (63)

San Marcos (10-6, 4-2 Channel League) will round out the regular season against Pacifica on Thursday at Sandpiper Golf Course at 3 p.m.
