San Marcos Girls Golf picked up a victory over Santa Ynez on Thursday at Alisal Ranch.

Led by senior Fia Torrey shooting a 47, the Royals are now 1-0 to open up the season.

“[Torrey’s] consistent play and focus are great assets to our team,” Royals coach Sarah Ashton said. “I also rely on her leadership on and off the course.”

Juniors Talia Cummings and Sadi Adams also turned in solid performances, posting a 50 and a 51, respectively.

“I’m looking forward to good things from [Cummings and Adams] as they are already playing well at the start of the season,” Ashton said. “It’s nice to have a full lineup of returners to set great examples for our new players learning competitive golf.”

Evelina Erickson, Riley O’Brien and Campbell Thayer also competed on Thursday.
