San Marcos girls lacrosse rounded out the regular season with a 15-2 Senior Night victory over crosstown rival Santa Barbara High on Tuesday at Warkentin Stadium.

The win was the Channel League-champion Royals’ (15-3, 8-0 Channel League) 30th straight league victory, a streak dating back to the 2023 season.

San Marcos came out of the gates on fire, as Josephine Grossman tallied a first-quarter hat trick and both Angie Cruz and Taylee Jones scored to take a 5-0 lead into the second.

The Royals continued to spread the attack around in the second, as four different players found the back of the net to balloon the lead to 11-2 by halftime. Grossman finished the first half with six goals.

“I liked the way we played fast again early and used our senior night emotion to our advantage,” San Marcos head coach Paul Ramsey said. “Naturally, there were some tears before the game, but then we turned it on, on the field.”

From there, the Royals took their foot off the gas pedal and cruised to the win in the regular-season finale.

Grossman ended with a game-high six goals to tie the all-time scoring record of 122 goals held by Livanna Plourde. Grossman, who has 74 goals this season, will look to break the record in the CIF-SS playoffs.

“We don’t have one player doing all the work and getting all the balls, so it makes Josephine’s output even more amazing,” Ramsey said.

Meanwhile, Santa Barbara High’s goals came from Mia Moelleken-Lezama and Audrey Skultety. Moelleken-Lezama also had eight ground balls and six caused turnovers.

While the Dons’ season came to a close with the loss, the Royals will await their CIF-SS playoff division and first-round matchup announcements on Friday.
