San Marcos girls water polo picked up a pair of wins on Friday to clinch a spot in the Newport Elite 8 Semi Finals matchup, taking down Oaks Christian and Bishops.
The Royals (22-4) will face off against Foothill on Saturday at 11 a.m.
San Marcos 14, Oaks Christian 12
The day began with an offensive slugfest in which the Royals came out on top.
Marina Brown turned in a big performance in the win, earning five ejections while scoring a pair of goals. Defensively, Bethany King collected five steals and three blocks.
Charlotte Raisin and Naomi Enright each scored impressive goals to lead the team to the win.
San Marcos 13, Bishops 11
The Royals stayed hot offensively in another high-scoring win over Bishops.
Lucy Haaland-Ford had a monster game on both ends of the pool with a whopping seven goals and five steals.
Meanwhile, Sophie Yonker tallied two goals and four assists and Serenity Stanfield picked up 10 blocks in the cage.
Carpinteria 19, Channel Islands 4
Behind 10 goals from Lilli Nemetz, the Warriors registered another blowout win over Channel Islands on Friday.
After Carpinteria held a slim 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors exploded for seven unanswered goals in the second quarter to balloon the lead to 10-1.
From there, Carpinteria cruised to the 15-goal win.
Nemetz dominated the game from start to finish, scoring the first four goals for the Warriors and ending with a season-high 10 goals. She also collected six steals.
“Lilli was by far the fastest player and used it on both ends of the pool,” Carpinteria coach Jon Otsuki said. “We made good decisions (as a team) and were more accurate with our passes, and the help on the defensive side was the difference.”
Following Nemetz in scoring were Sia Valikonis (3) and Sara Fakinos (2) while Ava Vital, Lucy Moore and Penny Ornelas all scored once.
Carpinteria (14-6, 7-1) will host Thousand Oaks on Monday.
