San Marcos girls water polo went 3-1 on the weekend and finished in fifth place at the Newport Holiday Cup this weekend hosted by Corona Del Mar and Foothill High.

The Royals opened the tournament with an 11-4 victory over Carlsbad High behind a four-goal effort by Charlotte Raisin.

Following Raisin, San Marcos’ Naomi Enright, Lily Bordofsky and Eleanor Grube netted two goals apiece in the win.

In their second game on Friday, the Royals came up short in a 10-4 loss to Mater Dei. In the loss, Enright, Raisin, Shea Estabrook and Bethany King tallied the goals while Sophie Yonker racked up four steals.

San Marcos bounced back with a pair of wins against Corona Del Mar and Long Beach Wilson to cap off the tournament on Saturday.

In the 11-9 win over Corona Del Mar, Lucy Haaland-Ford filled up the stat sheet with four goals, four ejections drawn and a pair of assists. Raisin also earned a team-high five ejections.

As for the 12-9 victory against Long Beach Wilson, the trio of King, Yonker and Jade Pattison picked up three steals apiece to lead the defensive effort.

Enright also had a strong all-around performance with two goals, two field blocks and an assist.

The Royals (12-3) will take on Buena in a road Channel League matchup on Tuesday.
