Stanford-bound Regan McEachen scored four goals and earned two exclusions to pace the San Marcos girls water polo team to a 16-4 win over Santa Margarita for a berth in the semifinals of the Villa Park Tournament on Friday.
Senior Madison Haaland-Ford added two goals and an ejection as San Marcos improved to 3-1.
Goalie Elaia Hamilton, a Cal signee, made six saves and a steal.
The Royals play Los Alamitos on Saturday morning for a spot in the championship game.
Los Alamitos 11, Santa Barbara 2
The Santa Barbara girls suffered their first loss of the season Friday, 11-2 against Los Alamitos in the quarterfinals of the Villa Park Tournament.
Abby Webber had both goals for the Dons. Layla Szymczak had two field blocks, two steals and earned an exclusion. Nalani Yim had eight saves, including a penalty block.
Santa Barbara trailed 5-2 at half.
The Dons continue play against Santa Margarita on Saturday.
Dos Pueblos 12, Long Beach Millikan 7
Dos Pueblos’ Emma Gilbert led all scorers with five goals, adding six steals and five earned ejections, as the Chargers beat Long Beach Millikan 12-7 Saturday to improve to 4-1 on the season.
The Chargers broke open a close game with a 7-0 run in the second quarter for an 8-1 halftime lead, and kept Millikan at bay from there.
Senior Ava Bennett led the team in assists with five to go with three goals. In the goal, Megan Garner finished with nine blocks and three steals.
