The Santa Barbara City College Men’s Soccer team began their 2026 campaign with a resounding 6-1 away win Friday night at Glendale.
Freshman San Marcos grad Luis Campos scored a hat trick, and Ventura natives Cristiano Alvarez (two goals) and Mark Salazar (one) also found the back of the net.
In the 2025 version of this matchup at La Playa Stadium, Santa Barbara dominated the game but ultimately settled for a 2-2 draw. They had 18 shots to Glendale’s five—and 12 to one in the second half.
On Friday, that ratio was 15 to five, but Santa Barbara took more of their chances. The Glendale heat bogged down the game’s pace, but Campos and Alvarez each scored late in the first half to take control.
Thirty minutes into the second half, Salazar and Alvarez’s second made it 4-0, all but solidifying the win. Glendale scored shortly after, but Campos then scored twice in five minutes to secure his hat trick and the team’s emphatic 6-1 victory.
The Vaqueros look ahead to their home opener on Tuesday against Los Angeles City College at 7 p.m.
