Dave Goss has announced his departure as Head Boys’ Volleyball Coach at his alma mater, San Marcos High School, to accept the position of Head Men’s Volleyball Coach at Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, Georgia.

Goss leaves behind a remarkably successful tenure highlighted by two conference titles and major tournament victories, including the 2025 DP Invitational and the 2026 SB Tournament of Champions.

At Emmanuel University, an NCAA Division II institution, Goss will lead a program that competes in the Conference Carolinas—a conference with an automatic bid to the NCAA National Tournament.

The Lions boast a full complement of athletic scholarships, active international recruiting, and a strong core of returning upperclassmen positioned to challenge for a conference championship.

Reflecting on his time leading his alma mater over the past two years, Goss expressed immense gratitude for the program and its players.

“I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity to coach at my alma mater,” Goss shared. “The student-athletes that I have had the joy to coach these past two years are true champions on and off the court.”

“We are grateful to Dave for his outstanding service and the incredible standard of excellence he brought here as a Royal,” said Wageneck. We wish him nothing but the absolute best as he embarks on this exciting next adventure at Emmanuel University.”

The search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.  Those with interest in the position should email Dr. Wageneck at fwageneck@sbunified.org.
