Jaran Depew and the San Marcos 400 free relay team placed in the championship finals at the CIF-SS Division 2 Swimming Championships on Friday in Riverside.

Depew finished sixth in the 200 freestyle in a career-best time of 1:42.23. It is a CIF State consideration time.

Depew swam on the relay with fellow seniors Alexi Stapf, Gavin Tallman and freshman Jacob Magid and clocked a state consideration time of 3:12.38 to place ninth.

In the consolation finals, Depew placed 11th in the 500 free in a career-best of 4:44.36. Talllman posted career-best times in the 200 IM (15th, 1:56.82) and 100 butterfly (18th, 52.25).

The 200 medley relay team of freshman Ben Caputo, sophomore Franklin Jaramilla, senior Tallman and freshman Magid took 18th in 1:42.35.
