Fresh of a CIF-SS Div. 2 championship in November, San Marcos boys water polo wrapped up its postseason honors with plenty of praise on the 2023 All-CIF team.
In fact, after the Royals and Dos Pueblos faced off in the title match, both local schools were represented on this year’s team.
San Marcos took home the bulk of the honors, though, including a pair of individual awards.
Nic Prentice continues to add accolades to his standout senior season, as he was named the CIF-SS Div. 2 Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, Royals head coach Peera Sukavivatanachai secured the honor of Coach of the Year after leading his squad to its first CIF title since 1994.
As for the local talent that graced the All-CIF team, Luke Burns and Samuel Rich joined Prentice as San Marcos players to make the cut.
Burns was dominant in the middle for the Royals all season while Rich provided elite goalie play for the CIF champions.
A pair of Chargers earned a spot on the team as well, with both Jaden Moore and Reggie Robles putting together solid seasons.
Moore was one of CIF’s top players on both ends of the pool this year while Robles was another lockdown goalie in town.
